Dr. James Sanders completed his specialist ENT training in 2017 in New Zealand. His primary medical qualification was awarded by the University of Dundee in Scotland in 2005. He relocated to New Zealand in 2007 and has since made this his home along with his wife and two daughters. He has worked and lived in Wanganui, Hamilton, Auckland, Wellington, Palmerston North, and Dunedin.

He completed the prestigious Head and Neck Oncological Surgery Fellowship at Guy’s Hospital in London, UK in 2019 and worked for a few months as a consultant there prior to returning to a permanent specialist position at Waikato Hospital. He gained a vast experience of head and neck disorders including thyroid disease in that time. James treats patients with general ENT conditions including sinus disease and hearing loss, but also participates at the head and neck multidisciplinary meeting at Waikato Hospital and has a special interest in Head and Neck cancer. 

James took a year out from his training to complete a Masters of Medical Science at the University of Otago in 2012-2013. This research concentrated on the use of pain relief following tonsillectomy and produced a high level of evidence trial using a novel pain medication. He has multiple publications in New Zealand and international peer reviewed journals.
